About the Role
We are seeking a Structural CAD Drafter / Technician with experience in construction documents for building structures. This role involves preparing and assembling structural drawing sets based on engineer markups, calculations, and field observations. The candidate should understand how structural systems are put together and can produce coordinated, construction-ready drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare structural construction drawings including framing plans, foundation plans, and sections and details
- Develop drawings from redlines, sketches, and engineering calculations
- Assemble complete drawing sets with proper sheet organization, notes, and callouts
- Coordinate with engineer to resolve discrepancies and missing information
- Revise drawings based on review comments and maintain version control
- Ensure drawings are consistent, clear, and suitable for construction use
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in structural drafting for buildings
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience with Revit is a plus
- Familiarity with structural materials and systems (steel, wood, concrete, masonry)
- Experience preparing construction documents (not just shop drawings or conceptual layouts)
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, markups, and calculations
- Strong attention to detail and drawing organization
- Must be local and available to come to physical office location
Work Requirements:
- Ability to Commute: Willowbrook, IL 60527 – Valid driver’s license required.
- Willingness to Travel locally within Chicago area: 25% of the time.
- Work Location: On-site.
- Schedule: 8-hour day shift, Monday to Friday – Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with U.S. building codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, NDS)
- Experience with forensic or retrofit projects
- Ability to identify inconsistencies or missing information in drawings before review
- Experience working directly with structural engineers
Compensation & Benefits
- Mid-Level: $50,000 – $60,000 per year.
