Position Description
SCHOOL NURSE
The school nurse provides health care services to students in staff during the school day and reports directly to the building level administrator.
Performance Responsibilities
Candidate must possess a valid certificate or licensure as a registered nurse or school nurse in the State of New Hampshire. Performance of this job will be evaluated by the building level administrator, using an appropriate evaluation instrument and in accordance with local school board policy. The term of the contract shall be in accordance with the current bargaining unit agreement.

SCHOOL NURSE
The school nurse provides health care services to students in staff during the school day and reports directly to the building level administrator.
Performance Responsibilities
- Be a resource person for parents and school staff.
- Be a counselor and advisor for parents, staff and students in health matters, both physical and psychological.
- Provide health assessments or physicals exams of students for early referral of health problems.
- To serve as a liaison between the school and the community health agencies and other health care professionals.
- Give initial first aid and notify parent when necessary to transport child to hospital or to the family physician in an emergency.
- Make suggestions for Preventative Health Education and needs with the school and community in mind.
- See that all permission slips have been signed by parent or guardian and returned to school before medication, immunizations, dental work or transportation to doctor or hospital can be started.
- Keep permanent records of all students' health histories, and transfer to new school when child is moved.
- Prepare an annual report to the Superintendent of Schools for school district report and others as necessary.
- Order, and be responsible for maintaining adequate supplies to carry on all of the above duties.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a course of study on health at all levels in the school curriculum.
- To be part of the Special Education team that provides education and health care assistance to students with special needs.
- Makes referrals to guidance counselors and outside agencies as needed.
- Performs such other tasks and responsibilities as the Superintendent of Schools may assign.
