Job Summary: The group fitness instructor plans classes, provides quality instruction and feedback to members of varied ages and fitness abilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and organize class outlines, methods and goals

Convey a professional image through a positive attitude and proper attire
Establish and maintain good customer service and aid in a courteous manner at all times. - Prepare music and equipment before class begins and begin and end classes on time
- Ensure a clean and safe environment. Assist members with putting away equipment after classes and make sure equipment storage is neat and orderly
- Work all assigned shifts and secure an approved substitute, when necessary
- Attend all staff training sessions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Fitness
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work with a variety of age groups and fitness levels
- Ability to demonstrate exercise techniques safely and proficiency
- Ability to communicate effectively with class participants
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsible
- Maintain group exercise certification through continuing education
- Answer general fitness questions and provide suggestions and advice
- Ensure the safety of all participants in the class
- Ability to be proactive in preventing accidents
Availability:
- 1-3 hours per/week
- Early mornings (6am or 7am) on weekdays
- Opportunities to pick up additional scheduled shifts for gap coverage is available
What Youll Do:
- Conduct and lead group aerobic and full body strength-style classes;
- Offer fun and energetic classes to help keep everyone on track towards a healthy and active lifestyle;
- Lead classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels;
- Modify classes, as needed, to meet varied health, ability, and cultural needs
Education and Experience:
- Fitness experience 6 months in professional setting
- High-school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to think independently and develop routines for teaching specific exercise classes. Awareness of proper body mechanics in the prevention of injury.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Certified Group Fitness Instructor and/or PT Certified.
- Valid Adult CPR/AED Certification required (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
