Farmingdale State College is seeking a student-focused professional to serve as a Residence Hall Director. The Residence Hall Director (RHD) is responsible for helping facilitate a safe, comfortable, fun, inclusive and positive community in the residence halls so students may achieve their academic and personal goals. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall administration and operation of a residence hall, including, but not limited to, training and supervising student staff, coordination of programming, community development and discipline.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with summer conference housing, serving on departmental committees and special assignments, helping and participating in college functions and committees.
This position is a 12 month, full-time, live-in position.
The Residence Hall Director serves on a Residence Life duty rotation and must be available to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree awarded by July 2026.
- Experience in Residence Life or a related field.
- Strong organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to think creatively and implement innovative solutions.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including experience working with a diverse student population.
- Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently, with a professional and accountable work ethic.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software systems.
- Master's Degree.
- At least one year of experience in Residence Life.
- Experience with planning programs.
- Experience with student discipline and/or conflict resolution.
- Experience with assessment tools.
- Experience with tools such as Adobe Illustrator.
This is a full-time UUP position.
- For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and ending Wednesday, May 27, 2026, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
