Responsibilities
- Safely handle and restrain animals during examinations, grooming, or feeding to ensure their safety and comfort
- Provide pet grooming services including bathing, brushing, and trimming to maintain hygiene and appearance
- Assist with dog training sessions to promote good behavior and obedience
- Support staff with basic animal care tasks such as feeding, administering medications, and monitoring health status
- Offer services by caring for animals in their owners’ absence, ensuring their needs are met with compassion and professionalism
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and play yards while adhering to sanitation protocols
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding care instructions, behavioral concerns, or treatment updates
- Assist with heavy lifting when necessary for transporting supplies or animals safely within the facility
Skills
- Proven experience in dog handling and training techniques that promote positive reinforcement
- Experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable
- Skilled in animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both pets and staff
- Knowledge of pet grooming practices to keep animals clean and well-maintained
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for equipment or animal transport
- Animal care expertise including feeding routines, medication administration, and health monitoring
- Familiarity with kennel operations and maintaining a clean, organized environment
