Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bakery Manager to oversee daily bakery operations in a fast-paced food service environment. This role involves managing staff, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining efficient bakery procedures to meet quality and productivity goals.
Duties
- Supervise daily bakery operations, including food preparation, baking, and presentation to ensure high-quality standards.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, stock management, and minimizing waste.
- Oversee Square POS system for accurate cash handling and sales processing.
- Train and develop staff on food safety, kitchen procedures, customer service, and operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with health regulations and food safety standards across all bakery activities.
- Lead shift management by coordinating staff schedules, delegating tasks, and maintaining smooth workflow.
- Monitor customer feedback to improve service quality and product offerings.
- Assist in budgeting, cost control, and overall food management to optimize profitability.
- Collaborate and develop new products and seasonal offerings.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment that adheres to safety protocols.
- Be an on-the-floor leader—prepping, baking, and troubleshooting daily.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, kitchen management, or restaurant management with a focus on bakery operations.
- Confidence in both baking (especially bread and pastry) and light savory cooking (soups, salads, sandwiches).
- Loves the idea of working on a farm and building a food program with heart.
- Is proficient with technology and Google Workspace products.
- Bonus: Experience in a café or bakery with counter service, or with cider/wine pairings.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in staff training, team management, and supervising personnel.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety standards and regulations within the food industry.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Experience with donuts and decorating strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage inventory effectively while controlling costs through proper stock rotation and waste reduction.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on hospitality excellence in casual dining or fine dining settings.
- Experience in managing shifts efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities including budgeting, training & development, and operational oversight.
