What are the responsibilities and job description for the MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN position at FARMERS TELEPHONE COOPERATIVE INC?
Job Summary:
To provide a safe and well maintained work environment by carrying out maintenance activities in compliance with Cooperative and Federal Regulations.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Facilities and Fleet Supervisor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs required electrical work to include but not limited to the installation of lights, receptacles, panels, and any other electrical appliances in accordance with National Electric Codes.
- Performs required heating and air conditioning work to include but not limited to installations and repairs, both electrical, mechanical and correction of freon gas charges.
- Performs required plumbing and installation as needed.
- Inspects generators, transfer switches, buildings and furnishes written reports to Supervisor.
- Performs maintenance of lighting systems and repairs broken doors and locks.
- Operates various meters (volt, amp and megger), refrigeration pressure gauges, recovery systems and charging cylinders.
- Coordinates minor repairs within the department, other departments, contractors, utilities.
- Assists construction crews in installation of carrier pads.
- Assists with security checks, gas pump readings, building inspections, contract inspections, etc.
- Coordinates electrical power to carrier sites.
- Performs maintenance to various equipment at cell towers.
- Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
- CAD Welding
- Assists Network Department with the installation of rectifier and inverted power equipment.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Pay Information:
This job is a Grade 6 in the Hourly Wage Scale.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma
- Experience in HVAC, installation, maintenance and repair
- Skilled in electrical, plumbing and general repair work
- Communication and listening skills
- Ability to work independently in a timely manner
- Willingness to work on call and after hours as needed
- Willingness to attend necessary trainings
- Ability to obtain master electrician licensure
Desired Skills/Abilities:
- Associate degree with focus on HVAC
- Master electrician
- 5 years experience in HVAC, installation, maintenance and repair
- Generator and transfer switch knowledge
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for extended periods of time
- Walking, Stooping, Bending, Grasping, Reaching, Climbing Ladders
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
