POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for all quality documents and shipments of samples required for customer orders. The position will oversee sampling and testing on before process, in-process and finished product to ensure that the production team is following all applicable company food safety policies and procedures and that the final product meets or exceeds customer specifications. This position will work with 3rd party services pertaining to the Quality department. This position will work closely with the all the plant operating teams, the Marketing department, management personnel, customers and vendors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage quality analysis in all areas to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and customer specifications.
- Responsible for testing and reporting of all analyses for both internal and external customers.
- Manage all aspects of Safe Quality Food program; micro samples, approve COA’s for all loads, environmental monitoring, magnet finding investigation, plant environmental monitoring, gluten certification and Kosher.
- Develop QA procedures for sample collection and analysis.
- Work closely with R&D, Sales and Operations on new product development, testing and full-scale production.
- Work with plant operations, Sales and other production personnel to investigate and root cause and timely follow-up to customer complaints.
- Review information from suppliers to assure proper product conformance, requirements and regulations.
- Communicate any critical quality or food safety concerns to employees and management.
- Review schedules and logs to ensure routine maintenance and calibrations are being performed as designed.
- Review daily and weekly orders.
- Conduct monthly internal audits.
- Work with 3rd party inspectors.
- File daily paperwork.
- Order QA supplies
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENT
Education - Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in food science, biology, microbiology or other related field, or equivalent work experience required.
Analytical thinking – Analysis data to draw relevant conclusions from data, manipulate data for reporting, identify patterns, and come up with viable solutions, all while adhering to company and customer’s specifications
Communication skills – Work with plant employees, management, and customers on a daily basis. Getting and giving information needed to and from workers on the floor just as easily as management, without disrupting the flow of business
Technical writing – Excellent writing and editing skills
Self-motivation – Ability complete daily tasks, identify solutions independently and work with minimal supervision
Computer skills - Expertise in Word, Excel and Outlook
Driver’s license - Valid driver’s license and insurability by insurance provider
