Grains Drying and Storage/Sanitation/QAC Supervisor
Overview:
Grains Drying and Storage/Sanitation/QAC Supervisor is responsible for leading the dryer department, including supervising both permanent and seasonal staff, ensuring high standards of quality and sanitation, and upholding a positive work environment. This specialized role requires a unique combination of technical expertise in pest and sanitation control, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to fostering employee growth and well-being.
Establish and maintain acceptable standards of performance in the key factor areas of: Safety, Employee Relations, Quality, Sanitation/Product Protection, Costs, and Production.
Essential Functions:
- Manages daily and monthly paddy inventory.
- Executes good manufacturing practices while promoting a safe working environment and sanitary production techniques through the supervision of all production phases of production and packaging. Conducts monthly/annual training to comply with regulatory needs
- Must possess a current Qualified Applicator Certificate issued by the Department of Pesticide Regulations.
- Must be able to track pesticide usage plant wide and maximize the plant Integrated Pest Management Program.
- Must possess the communication skills necessary to present reports to other departments on a regular basis.
- Adhere to and enforce DPR regulations when applying pesticides while on FRC grounds.
- Must possess the ability to adapt to and incorporate new or changing technology into the duties of the department.
- Practices basic principles of good people management to include but not limited to training of new hourly employees
- Interacts with Maintenance on breakdowns, PM’s and vibration analysis
- Interacts with regulatory agencies, external auditors and schedules inspections
- Continually identify and implement short- and long-term cost savings opportunities, in the Drying and Storage department without compromising quality
- Facilitates good communication by regularly informing management of significant operational issues, changes and recommendations
- Participates in food safety inspections
- Process and approve payroll
Qualifications/Requirements:
Education and Experience: high school diploma or equivalent required
Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers of common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.
Critical thinking skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram formats.
Supervision received: Under direction where a definite objective is set up and the employee plans and arranges own work, referring only unusual cases to supervisor.
Planning: Responsibility for general assignments in planning, time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, may also occasionally assist in
Use of machines, equipment and/or computers: Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.)
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SDS, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals, must have good grammar and ability to write routine reports.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to calculate percentages and volume.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have, or have the ability to obtain a forklift operator's license. Current valid California Driver’s License required. Must be insurable and have clean Motor Vehicle Report. Certificate of insurance required when using personal vehicle for company business.
Schedule: Full-time position, typically 40 hours a week, but on occasion additional hours may be required. Variable shift assignments as needed to fulfill the facility’s production requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Work is performed in a high dust environment. Workers must often work in tight, confined claustrophobic spaces. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and heat.
