Courtesy Clerk

The Courtesy Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service while assisting with a variety of tasks in the store. This role involves helping customers with their purchases, maintaining a clean and organized shopping environment, and supporting store operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service:
• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Answer customer questions and provide information about store products, services, and promotions.
• Help customers load groceries into their carts or vehicles as needed.
• Bagging and Carrying Groceries:
• Efficiently bag groceries, ensuring products are handled with care.
• Carry out groceries to customers’ vehicles, if requested, while maintaining a positive and helpful attitude.
• Cart Management:
• Collect and organize shopping carts in the parking lot and return them to the store.
• Ensure carts are clean, free of debris, and safely stored.
• Store Maintenance:
• Keep store aisles, bathrooms, entrance, and parking lot clean and organized.
• Assist with restocking shelves or cleaning spills as directed by management.
• Maintain proper signage and displays to enhance store cleanliness and visual appeal.
• Store Assistance:
• Assist cashiers by helping to bag items and direct customers to checkout lines.
• Perform various other duties as assigned by store leadership, including maintaining store appearance (including bathrooms and front of store) and assisting in special projects like reshop.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Customer Service Skills: A friendly, approachable demeanor and a commitment to providing excellent service.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry groceries, and manage carts in the parking lot.
• Communication Skills: Ability to interact effectively with customers, co-workers, and management.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to handle groceries with care and maintain the cleanliness of the store, including bathrooms.
• Team Player: Works collaboratively with fellow employees to meet the needs of the store and customers.
• Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing store needs and work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous customer service or retail experience is a plus but not required.
• Basic knowledge of grocery store operations.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to push carts and handle groceries effectively.

Working Conditions:

• The position requires working in a grocery store environment (bathrooms included), including indoor and outdoor settings (parking lot).
• Fast-paced work with the need for multitasking.
