Paralegal - Bankruptcy, Foreclosures, and Creditors' Rights

Farleigh Wada Witt, a multi-practice, mid-sized law firm located in downtown Portland, is seeking an experienced paralegal for our growing Creditors’ Rights and commercial practice groups. This position would be for a one-year contract with potential for long term development. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional in creditor's rights, with great attention to detail, and the ability to exhibit sound judgment and well-reasoned decisions.

Position Overview

A successful paralegal will be responsible for assisting attorneys with bankruptcies, foreclosures, collections and related legal matters. Primary duties will include assisting attorneys in the preparation, filing and processing of pleadings, motions, and other related documents. Your expertise will ensure timely and accurate handling of collections and creditors’ rights proceedings, including judgments, bankruptcies, and foreclosures while conducting comprehensive document reviews to ensure legal compliance and accuracy. As a paralegal, you will also provide guidance and direction to an assigned legal assistant and/or administrative support for support and work assignments delegated for their completion. This role requires a strong understanding of the legal proceedings, compliance requirements, and financial systems.

Required:

• Experience as a paralegal in bankruptcy, foreclosure, legal, or collections environment
• Knowledge of Oregon and Washington court procedures and rules
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable computer programs required to manage the practice
• Well organized, ability to prioritize multiple tasks, efficient, and resourceful
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgement and discretion
• High degree of accuracy in performing tasks and responsibilities
• Ability to work additional hours as necessary

Preferred Knowledge and Minimum Qualifications:

• Three years of experience as paralegal in bankruptcy, foreclosures or collections
• Knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac foreclosure process and reporting
• Training or education in a certified paralegal program
• Client service approach
• Detail oriented
• Great interpersonal skills
• Team oriented and collaborative
• Technology savvy
• Strong time management skills

This is a full-time salaried, non-exempt, Monday – Friday position.
