Job description
Faris Planning & Design is a small land planning and landscape architecture firm located in Hilliard, OH, that is dedicated to creating exceptional, yet functional, design. We specialize in a broad range of services, which allows us to assist our clients in every step of the development process, from early site evaluation and concept design, working through the rezoning and development plan process, to construction. Our project scope ranges from small commercial and residential landscapes to large industrial planning, with the projects located across Ohio. We are looking for an experienced mid-level landscape designer who wants to work in a collaborative office environment, in a highly creative and fast-paced field.
Role Description
Our firm works on a broad range of scales and scopes of landscape architecture and planning projects, and because of this, the role will be wide-ranging with many opportunities to work on different types of projects. This role will focus on leading team members at all stages of the design process as well as producing all project documentation and exhibits. Some of the responsibilities include:
- Manage staff with production of site plans, planting plans, construction plans and other various design exhibits
- Oversee and participate in the production of exhibits for rezoning and development plan applications, including writing development texts.
- Coordination with other design professionals, engineers, city officials and attorneys to ensure time effective completion of project deliverables.
- Create illustrative drawings by free-hand drawing, 2D digital rendering, or 3D digital rendering
- Attend hearings and give public presentations about projects
- Attend client meetings and maintain good client/firm relationships.
- Be able to lead less experienced designers in all aspects of project design and documentation
- Mentor and collaborate with less experienced designers
- Perform site visits and conduct tree surveys
Qualifications
- Education: bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited university
- Experience: 10 years in the landscape architecture field.
- Specific experience designing to municipal and city zoning code standards and/or rezoning and development plan approval process desired
- Technical Skills: proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite (proficiency in SketchUp and Lumion is a plus)
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and graphic
- Ability to collaborate with other design teams in engineering and architecture
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of local plant material is a plus

Pay: $90,000-110,000 per year DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE
