What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Lead - 3rd shift position at Faribault Foods, Inc.?
SUMMARY: This lead position is responsible for the day-to-day requirements to support production ingredient requirements and shipping requirements. This position is also responsible for food safety procedures in order to maintain a quality and safe product. Duties include backup support of all warehouse ingredient handling SOP’s, finished goods warehouse SOP’s, production floor support for ingredient usage and needs, and identifying and communicating potential bottlenecks and savings opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
- Ensure the safety of all employees and equipment.
- Ensure all production ingredient requirements are properly issued, staged, and usage accountability per work order.
- Assist production personnel with ingredient inquiries.
- Provide daily back up support for all warehouse positions, including shipping, receiving, work order ingredient picking, staging, and unused ingredient returns.
- Provide backup coverage for planned and unplanned absence on both shifts in the warehouse including shipping, receiving, and ingredient handling.
- Assist with all Warehouse Master Sanitation requirements.
- Conduct inventory cycle counts and ingredients cleaning/inspection requirements including pallet re-stacking and/or finished goods staging and reorganization.
- Communicate with the production manager regarding daily issues concerning the production schedule, ingredient and formula concerns.
- Understand and interpret formula sheets to know what ingredients are required to manufacture products on all lines accordingly.
- Provide support and assistance for production ingredient handlers and forklift operators for ingredient usage according to FIFO, allergen segregation, partial container usage, and returning of unused ingredients properly.
- Process ingredient changeovers in production for product changes.
- Provide SOP training for all warehouse jobs per SQF requirements including shipping, receiving and ingredient handling.
- Effectively coordinate and respond to day to day employee accountability issues and effectively communicate issues and concerns to the shift supervisor, or manager.
- Ensure food safety and quality is maintained to company standard at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
Experience:
- Two to four years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent troubleshooting and follow up skills.
- Excellent communication skills necessary to interact with production and warehouse employees, and company leadership.
- Dependability and reliability.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractures and decimals.
- Basic computer skills needed for email, SAP and RF Smart scanners.
- Must be a certified forklift operator.
- Safety awareness is a must.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Works closely with production supervisors/managers, production employees and warehouse employees.
- In the event of an absence, the duties of this position will be covered by the Logistics Manager.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English.
- Must be able to hear, and have color vision
- Must be able to reach 5 feet and lift above head.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
- Must be able to stand/sit for up to 10-12 hours.
- Must be flexible in regards to shift start and stop times.
