Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine inspections of aircraft airframes, engines, avionics, and mechanical systems using schematics, technical drawings, and CAD models.
- Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis to identify issues affecting aircraft performance or safety.
- Repair or replace aircraft components utilizing hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, welding equipment, soldering tools, and specialized industrial tools.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to accurately diagnose problems.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, micrometers, ammeters, ohmmeters, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and AS9100 standards.
- Collaborate with team members on flight line maintenance tasks including assembly, fabrication of sheet metal parts, electrical repairs, and equipment repair to support daily operations.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols related to heavy lifting, vehicle maintenance, electrical work, welding, soldering, and working at heights.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft systems including airframe structures, powerplants, avionics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems repair.
- Proficiency in interpreting schematics and technical drawings for accurate repairs and modifications.
- Experience with CAD software such as CATIA and AutoCAD for designing or modifying components.
- Strong understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), AS9100 quality standards, and aviation maintenance best practices.
- Military aviation experience or background in military aircraft maintenance is highly desirable.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, ohmmeters, ammeters; familiar with CMMS software for maintenance tracking.
- Ability to operate equipment such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), sheet metal fabrication tools, welding units (including soldering), power tools including torque wrenches and heavy industrial equipment.
- Electrical experience combined with knowledge of avionics systems for troubleshooting complex electrical issues.
- Hands-on experience with flight line maintenance operations in an aviation environment or aviation maintenance facility preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience in vehicle or aircraft component assembly and fabrication processes.
