Plant Controller

Position Summary
The Plant Controller at Fareva Richmond will serve as the financial lead for the site, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of plant financial reporting and cost control. This role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and corporate finance to drive financial performance, identify process efficiencies, and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial results for the Richmond site.
- Analyze variances against forecast, budget, and prior year; deliver insights and recommendations to local and corporate leadership.
- Lead short- and long-term financial planning, including forecasts, budgets, and strategic plans.
- Ensure financial compliance with US GAAP and Fareva internal policies.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Control
- Oversee all plant-related cost accounting activities including standard costing, variance analysis, BOM accuracy, and overhead allocation.
- Monitor and manage inventory valuation, production costs, and cost-of-goods-sold accuracy.
- Provide insights into manufacturing KPIs (yield, OEE, labor efficiency, etc.) to support cost optimization.
Operational Support & Business Partnering
- Act as a key member of the plant leadership team, providing financial insight for operational decisions.
- Lead financial modeling for capital projects, make-vs-buy analysis, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Partner with department managers to monitor productivity and support accountability to budget targets.
Audit, Controls & Compliance
- Ensure internal controls are effectively maintained and documented in accordance with corporate governance and SOX (if applicable).
- Coordinate with external and internal auditors to facilitate annual audits and special reviews.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and develop plant accounting or finance personnel, if applicable.
- Foster a culture of financial accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
Experience:
- 7 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a plant/controller role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory management, and operational finance.
- Experience in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, or chemical manufacturing is a plus.
- Prior ERP experience required; SAP proficiency highly preferred.
