Job Title: Safety Coordinator
Location: Richmond, VA
Position Overview
You support day-to-day safety operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You work with supervisors and production teams to identify hazards, reduce risk, and strengthen a safety culture across the facility. You assist the EHS Manager with inspections, training, incident reviews, and compliance tracking.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety walkthroughs on the production floor
- Identify hazards and track corrective actions through closure
- Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Maintain OSHA 300 logs and safety documentation
- Support safety onboarding for new employees
- Deliver toolbox talks and basic safety training sessions
- Monitor PPE compliance across production areas
- Assist supervisors with job hazard analysis development
- Track safety metrics such as recordables, near misses, and corrective actions
- Support internal safety audits and regulatory inspections
- Partner with operations leaders to reinforce safe work practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Preferred discipline(s): Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
- A combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be in lieu of preferred disciplines
- 1 to 3 years safety, manufacturing, or industrial experience
- Basic knowledge of OSHA standards
- Strong observation and hazard recognition skills
- Ability to communicate with frontline employees and supervisors
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and SAP
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification
- Internship or entry level experience in manufacturing safety
- Experience with incident reporting systems or safety management software
- Familiarity with manufacturing hazards such as machine guarding, lockout tagout, and powered industrial trucks
Work Environment
- Active manufacturing facility with production equipment and material handling operations
- Regular presence on the production floor
- Required use of PPE including safety shoes, safety glasses, etc
