As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a Technical Inside Sales Representative to become a key member of our team. This role is ideal for an organized, technically minded individual who enjoys solving customer problems, managing projects, and supporting sales efforts in a fast-paced environment.
Position SummaryThe Technical Inside Sales Representative serves as a critical link between customers, manufacturers, and our outside sales efforts. This individual will manage quotations, technical support, CRM activities, project coordination, order processing, customer communication, and operational support.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, customer-focused, capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accountability, and able to work with a strong sense of urgency to meet customer and project deadlines.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Sales & Customer Support- Respond to customer inquiries via phone and email
- Provide technical product recommendations and application assistance
- Assist customers with product selection and specification review
- Coordinate with manufacturers on technical questions and solutions
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
- Support outside sales activities and strategic account development
- Prepare detailed quotations and proposals
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Track opportunities through the sales cycle
- Coordinate pricing, lead times, and technical information with manufacturers
- Assist with project takeoffs and estimating
- Follow up on outstanding quotations and opportunities
- Maintain accurate customer, project, and opportunity records within the CRM system
- Document customer interactions and sales activities
- Track project status, quotation activity, and sales pipeline progress
- Generate reports and maintain data accuracy
- Support forecasting and business development initiatives
- Enter and manage customer orders
- Coordinate purchasing and supplier communications
- Track shipments and provide status updates to customers
- Resolve order discrepancies and warranty issues
- Maintain accurate records of project and order activity
- Assist with preparation of submittals and technical documentation
- Create and modify basic engineered drawings and layouts
- Support customers with installation and application questions
- Participate in manufacturer training and product development programs
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments
- Prepare outgoing shipments and coordinate logistics
- Organize inventory and maintain warehouse cleanliness
- Perform local deliveries and customer pickups as needed
- Assist with loading and unloading products and equipment
- Support occasional jobsite deliveries and customer emergencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Mechanical and technical aptitude
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including spreadsheets, formulas, data organization, and reporting
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for reviewing plans, specifications, takeoffs, and project documentation
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Experience in industrial sales, electrical distribution, heat tracing, automation, HVAC, controls, or related industries
- Experience reading technical drawings and specifications
- CRM experience
- AutoCAD or drafting experience
- ERP or order management system experience
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Bluebeam in a technical sales, estimating, or project support environment
- Ability to frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to occasionally move or assist in moving materials weighing up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques and material handling equipment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and work in warehouse environments
- Ability to occasionally visit construction sites, industrial facilities, and customer locations
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles for local deliveries and customer support
