What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Far West Industries?
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of the financial reports and analysis of Far West Industries and its affiliates (the Company) used by management to monitor the Company’s performance. This individual must possess critical thinking ability to identify business risks and opportunities and to continuously seek process improvements.
Essential functions:
· Develop, prepare, and maintain timely monthly financial statements for multiple companies.
· Provide value-added monthly variance analysis of the company financials to assist in management decision-making processes.
· Develop Profitability reports including job costing for each construction project.
· Participate and drive the Budgeting and Forecasting process in steering the Company.
· Assist in preparing tax returns for multiple entities (i.e. Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S) and ensure compliance with the latest rules and regulations in various jurisdictions.
· Prepare supporting documents for the external audit.
· Develop Policies and Procedures and ensure adherence to guidelines.
· Maintain and restructure the master chart of accounts as needed for all entities and ensure the integrity of the data structure.
Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related area.
· Hands-on experience performing financial reporting and preferably taxation.
· CPA and/or MBA preferred.
· Experience in real estate construction and/or financial lending preferred.
· Construction software knowledge preferred (i.e. NewStar or similar).
· Loan software knowledge preferred (i.e. Margill or similar).
· Tax software knowledge preferred (i.e. Drake or similar).
