Position Summary: Far Brook School is seeking a Teaching Fellow to support student learning at the Nursery and Kindergarten Grade levels where the lead teachers create an integrated and cross-disciplinary experience for students. Far Brook’s Teaching Fellow program is designed to help those beginning their career in teaching to gain valuable experience and insight with the support and guidance of experienced teachers in classroom management, curriculum mapping, lesson planning, and best practices. The framework of the program allows a teacher to start off gaining experience gradually and with support. The Fellow’s independence and responsibility will increase over the course of the year, depending on the growth of the individual and the needs of the classroom to which the Fellow is assigned. Central to the program is the idea that teachers learn by doing, but also by receiving feedback and having time to reflect on the practice of teaching.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Understand and support the Far Brook SchoolStatement of PurposeandCommitment to Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice.
- Support the classroom teacher in daily classroom tasks such as organizing materials, preparing assignments, and keeping track of student progress and growth.
- Assist with students’ well-being and check-in with the lead teachers to provide updates on observations of students.
- Along with the lead classroom teachers, support the students by walking them to their Specialist classes and alternating with duties such as recess and lunch support.
- Work closely with learning specialists and classroom teachers to create and implement both learning support and enrichment activities.
- Observe and ask questions as the lead classroom teachers plan and design lessons and curriculum content for math, reading, writing, phonics, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
- Work closely with the classroom teachers for planned opportunities to prepare and teach lessons. Fellows will have a chance to reflect on the instruction they provide and ways to improve student learning.
- At times, Fellows will also assist or sub in other classes as school needs arise.
- Attend school evening/weekend events for the grade level(s)
- Attend faculty meetings each Wednesday, 3:30-5:00 PM

Pay: From $28,000.00 per year
