Position Summary: Far Brook School is seeking a visionary, innovative, and deeply collaborative educator to serve as our Academic Technology & AI Integration Specialist. This role is designed for a forward-thinking practitioner who will teach technology literacy to grades 2–8 and champion the purposeful, ethical integration of emerging technologies, including Generative AI, across all divisions (N–8).


The ideal candidate will seamlessly weave these modern competencies into Far Brook's unique progressive, multidisciplinary, and experiential approach. Essential Responsibilities


Curriculum, Pedagogy & Student Engagement

  • Modernized Tech Curriculum: Design and deliver an innovative N–8 technology curriculum that encompasses digital citizenship, critical AI literacy (prompt engineering, bias awareness, and algorithmic thinking), data privacy, computer science/programming, and hands-on STEAM/makerspace learning.
  • Direct Instruction: Teach dynamic, project-based weekly technology classes to grades 2–8, fostering a culture of curiosity, ethical creation, and problem-solving.
  • AI Literacy for Students: Teach students how to responsibly co-create with AI tools, critically evaluate AI-generated outputs, and understand the ethical implications of automation.


Instructional Coaching & Faculty Collaboration

  • Multidisciplinary Co-Planning: Partner with faculty to thoughtfully integrate educational technology and Generative AI tools into existing curricula, enhancing Far Brook’s progressive, thematic units.
  • AI & Tech Professional Development: Design and lead robust professional development workshops, coaching cohorts, and "just-in-time" training to build faculty confidence in using AI for lesson design, administrative efficiency, and differentiated instruction.
  • Emerging Tech Evaluation: Research, pilot, and vet emerging digital tools, AR/VR, and Generative AI platforms, ensuring alignment with student data privacy laws (COPPA/FERPA) and progressive pedagogy.


Leadership & Community Engagement

  • Strategic Partnership: Work closely with the Director of Technology and Technology Associate to align instructional goals with infrastructure, inform the educational technology budget, and assess the school-wide implementation of best practices.
  • 1-to-1 Program Leadership: Provide instructional leadership for the School’s 1-to-1 iPad and Chromebook programs, helping faculty and students use devices purposefully, responsibly, and effectively. 
  • Collaborate with the Technology Department to support successful implementation, evaluate classroom needs, and promote equitable access to digital learning resources.
  • Instructional Technology Platforms: Assist and support the implemenation of instructional platforms and digital resources, including Google Workspace for Education, Seesaw, IXL, creative applications, coding platforms, and age-appropriate AI tools.
  • Partner with the Technology Department to review subscriptions, usage, privacy, effectiveness, and continued instructional value.
  • Community Advisory and Education: 
  • Serve as a Community Advisor, facilitating weekly advisory time to support ongoing grade-level curriculum work, SEL learning, and community development of 5th and 6th grade students.
  • Organize engaging workshops and resources for parents and families regarding healthy digital wellness, screen-time balance, safety, and navigating the world of AI with children.
  • Work closely with grade-level colleagues and specialist teachers to create integrated and cohesive learning experiences.
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom learning.
  • Participate actively in the life of the school community, including faculty collaboration, professional development, and school events.


Required Qualifications and Experience


Education & Experience

  • Advanced Degree Required: Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Computer Science, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, ideally within an independent, progressive, or project-based learning environment.
  • Leadership Track Record: Proven experience delivering adult professional development or serving as an instructional coach/tech coordinator.


Technical & Pedagogical Competencies

  • AI Proficiency: Deep familiarity with Generative AI tools (e.g., Google Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT) and their pedagogical applications, limitations, and ethical considerations in an Pre-K–8 environment.
  • Ecosystem Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Google Workspace for Education, Apple deployment in education, and managing school-wide SaaS subscriptions.
  • STEAM & Coding: Proficiency with coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Python), robotics, and makerspace tools (3D printing, laser cutting, circuit building).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible, inspirational ideas for teachers and parents.

Reports to

Directors of Upper School and Technology while collaborating with key stakeholders on a regular basis, i.e., Lower School Director and Technology Department.


Benefits

Academic Technology & AI Integration Specialist position is a, full-time, exempt position which provides eligibility for the following benefits:


  • Medical benefits are available to full-time employees following 30 days of employment and include employer-paid contributions to a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA).
  • Vision and dental plans are available at the employee's cost.
  • The School provides employer-paid life insurance (up to $50,000 in coverage) and employer-paid long-term disability insurance.
  • Additional benefits include tuition remission, educational assistance, and participation in the School's retirement plan, subject to plan eligibility requirements.


Benefits are subject to change in accordance with plan documents and School policy.


Salary Range

$70,000 - $80,000 annually, based on professional experience, education degree(s) completed and internal equity considerations. However, final salary will be determined based on all qualifications and must be in alignment with the School's benchmarking and compensation model.
