What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at FAPS, Inc.?
At FAPS the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general plant maintenance, such as electrical work, plumbing, heating and air and pumps, as well as general grounds maintenance, construction, welding, and fabrication.
Essential Duties:
- Perform mechanical and basic electrical repairs on all equipment assigned to the maintenance department.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on electrical systems, heating and air systems, pumps, and mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Preform repairs on mechanical equipment by trouble shooting and the use of equipment manuals.
- Assist as needed in completion of construction or special projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Ability to cut, wield and fabricate metal from blueprint or verbal instructions.
- Use equipment such as two-way radio, battery charger and cables, air tank, power and hand tools, welder, forklift, etc.
- Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Attributes:
- Lift, push, and or pull up to 100lbs
- Stand, bend, and or kneel throughout shift
- Work at heights up to 20 feet
- Work exposed to outdoor elements such as heat, cold, rain, and or any other conditions out of doors
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years’ experience of general plant maintenance OR Certificate or Technical Trade Degree
- Valid US Driver’s License
- Drive both automatic and standard vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic carpentry knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft excel and word.
- Strong organizational skills as well as being able to pay strict attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Proven problem-solving abilities
- Deadline and detail oriented
