Job Description

• Scientific responsibility for and oversight of biochemistry for Fapon DNA sequencing products and technologies.
• Responsible for overall chemical assay research and development, and transfer into competitive sequencing products.
• Create and manage intellectual property and invention for Fapon value, measured by Patents and innovative technologies.
• Manage Biochemistry teams for R&D in California and in China, coordinating efforts toward high level objectives.
• Organize and lead the development of chemical assays to power Fapon DNA sequencing platforms – manage reagent requirements and specifications, development activity, and documentation.
• Directly build and manage Biochemistry teams in USA for the DNA Sequencing platforms.
• Technical oversight of development and engineering teams in China/ROW to support and facilitate transfer of platforms and technologies to Fapon NPI and manufacturing organization.
• Provide support for Fapon commercial activities for DNA sequencing platforms including early KOL experiments and customer data management.
• Collaborate with other teams in defining the specific application for KOL and commercial products.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership; implement effective engineering processes and policies; drive excellence in scientific and team performance.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
• 15 years or above directing research and development teams in life science technologies.
• Successful track record of successful product development and commercialization of genomics products, clinical diagnostic products, or other health care technologies.
• Deep experience developing powerful chemical assays and guiding them into commercial products, experience in scaling up and transfer to production.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead highly innovative cross-functional teams.
• Expertise in enzymology and macro-molecule research and development.
• Experience with high throughput NGS chemical assays and systems and single-molecule sequencing systems.
• Working experience with commercialization and Life Science products, extensive familiarity with DNA Sequencing development processes.
• Personal track record of innovation and creativity, and of fostering creativity in others.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of NGS technology, DNA and other biological macromolecular structure; familiarity with both colony-based and single molecule approaches is preferred.
• Familiar with talent distribution in the biochemistry and sequencing industry; track record in recruiting and building high performance teams of scientists and engineers.
