The Manufacturing Scodix Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining Scodix digital embellishment equipment to produce high-quality printed materials, monitoring its performance, and making adjustments as needed to maintain optimal production processes in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, this role ensures that production targets are met while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety protocols.
Machine Operation
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Operate the Scodix machine to execute digital embellishment processes such as UV coating, foiling, and embossing, the machine is used to apply various high value finishes to printed materials.
- Set up the machine, including loading and aligning materials, adjusting settings, and performing test runs.
- Monitor machine performance, including speed, temperature, and pressure, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper alignment and pressure during the process.
- Ensure that production processes are running at peak efficiency, with minimal downtime and waste.
- Monitor the production process to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently, adjusting as needed.
- Identify and troubleshoot any issues or defects, such as misalignment, inconsistencies, or machine malfunctions.
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy, including checking for proper embellishment and adherence to design specifications.
- Continuously monitor the process to detect and correct any deviations from quality standards.
- Document and report any deviations or quality issues to the Production Supervisor.
- Make necessary adjustments to the machine to correct any issues and maintain high-quality standards.
- Perform basic troubleshooting to resolve minor issues with the Scodix system, including power settings and software errors.
- Conduct routine maintenance on the Scodix machine, such as cleaning lenses and checking laser alignment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and ensure that safety guards and devices are in place and functional.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to the appropriate personnel immediately.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with machinery or products, and report problems to supervisors or maintenance teams.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of production activities, including output quantities, machine settings, downtime and any issues encountered.
- Complete production logs and quality control reports as required.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, material defects, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Report shortages or discrepancies to supervisors to ensure continuous production.
- Work closely with other operators, technicians, and supervisors to achieve production goals and resolve issues.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and address any production issues.
- Participate in training programs to stay current with industry standards and company procedures.
- Assist in training new operators in Scodix machine use and safety practices.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in printing or manufacturing is a plus.
- Previous experience operating Scodix or similar digital embellishment machines preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality inspections.
- Basic understanding of mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, is required.
- Ability to follow numerical order and maintain sequence continuity.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic understanding of production processes and safety standards.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
