Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead, manage, and supervise a team of production workers from Leads to general labor.
- Assign tasks and monitor the daily activities of the production team.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to employees.
- Ensure sub-department production schedules and targets are met.
- Monitor sub-departments production processes and adjust schedules as needed to meet demand.
- Coordinate with other sub-departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production.
- Implement and enforce quality control standards and procedures for responsible sub-department.
- Inspect products to ensure they meet quality specifications for responsible sub-department.
- Identify and resolve production and quality issues within the time frame of job schedule for responsible sub-department.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for responsible sub-department.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and coordinate training sessions for responsible sub-department.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards for responsible sub-department.
- Identify areas for improvement in sub-department production process.
- Implement and execute lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement and execute cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate and updated records of sub-department production activities and initiatives, including output, quality, inventory levels, implementations, etc. of responsible sub-department.
- Prepare and submit sub-department operations reports to management.
- Document any incidents, accidents, or quality issues of responsible sub-department.
- Manage the allocation of sub-department use of materials, machinery, and workforce to optimize production efficiency.
- Ensure that all necessary materials and supplies are available for sub-department production.
- Identify training needs and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for sub-department production staff.
- Inform the direct manager of any planed or unplanned leave presented during the work scheduled.
- Maintain open and constant communication about all sub-department matters with the direct manager.
- Oversee routine maintenance and repair of production equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and manage equipment downtime.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve production performance for responsible sub-department.
- Use performance data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives for responsible sub-department.
- Address and resolve conflicts or issues among production staff promptly and effectively.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Education:
High School Diploma Or Equivalent
- A foundational requirement, demonstrating basic education and readiness for further training and development.
- Provides specialized knowledge in manufacturing processes, quality control, and technical skills.
- Preferred for in-depth understanding of manufacturing principles, management, and leadership. Courses in supply chain management, operations management, and industrial technology are beneficial.
Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM):
- From APICS, indicating expertise in production and inventory management.
- Demonstrates knowledge in lean principles and waste reduction.
- Indicates proficiency in quality management and process improvement.
- From SME, highlighting advanced knowledge in manufacturing engineering.
- Minimum 3-5 Years in Manufacturing or Production Environment: Demonstrates familiarity with the industry, understanding of production workflows, and hands-on experience with manufacturing processes.
- Previous Supervisory or Leadership Experience: Preferably 1-2 years, showing capability in managing teams, handling conflict resolution, and providing guidance and mentorship.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles: Practical experience in implementing lean methods, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement techniques.
- Understanding of Quality Control Procedures: Experience in maintaining quality standards, conducting inspections, and addressing quality issues.
- Familiarity with Safety Standards and Regulations: Hands-on experience in enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies.
- Project Management Experience: Leading or participating in projects aimed at process improvement, new product introduction, or equipment upgrades.\
- Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven track record of identifying issues, analyzing data, and implementing effective solutions.
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members, management, and other departments.
- Experience with Performance Metrics and Reporting: Developing, tracking, and analyzing KPIs to measure production performance and drive improvements.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with manufacturing equipment, understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
