Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate Family Services' Core Values and Behaviors in the work you do while fulfilling Family Services' mission to Protect, Heal and Care. Responsibilities will be performed within our policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Plan and prepare menus, preparation sheets and other food documentation as applicable; prepare three meals and two snacks daily for the approximately 20 youth in care.
- Ensure appropriate temperatures for all food items prior to serving.
- Maintain a high quality and nutritious food product for clients.
- Be responsible and accountable for the nutritional content of food provided to clients.
- Develop nutrition standards that combine the relationship of diet to client treatment planning.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the relationship between diet, client behavior and overall health.
- Ensure compliance all state/federal codes and regulations regarding food service and sanitation. This includes maintaining the kitchen in a clean and sanitary manner and storing foods properly.
- Clean the food warmer area and sweep around the kitchen/cafeteria entrance before and after meals.
- Update and revise food services policy and procedures annually. This process will be completed collaboratively with the Director of Center Operations.
- Follow food preparation sheets and daily kitchen checklists.
- Track and document client headcounts for each meal.
- Manage food services expenses and costs in accordance with the established food services budget.
- Maintain inventory and quality control of all food products in the kitchen area. Place food orders as required.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment and appliances are maintained in good working conditions.
- Work collaboratively with the Care Coordinator or designee to ensure that all nutritional special plans are followed.
- Work collaboratively with other Agency programs to ensure appropriate meal preparation and delivery as needed.
- Provide planning, expertise and catering for agency functions as directed.
- Provide on-call support to Food Service Team members as needed.
- Work under the guidance and direction of the Director of Center Operations, Director of Clinical Services, and Division Director.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education: Associate's degree in Culinary Arts
Minimum Experience: 1 of year experience in a food service field including cooking & meal planning. Completion of ServSafe Food Manager Certification must be achieved within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Experience: 3 years of experience in a food service field including cooking & meal planning.
ServSafe Food Manager Certification.
State regulations require staff to be 20 years or older.
Qualifications:
- Time management skills and the ability to meet work demands and coordinate multiple tasks on an independent basis.
- Organizational skills; communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to recognize and control one's own biases.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and reallocate resources as needed.
- Flexible and adaptable in the face of new or changing information.
- Basic computer skills are required for menu preparation, etc.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver's License, with reliable personal vehicle. Maintain required auto insurance and acceptable driving record requirements.
