Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. This role involves supporting optometrist in providing exceptional eye care services, managing patient interactions, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for patient care within a fast-paced medical environment. Prior experience with EMR systems and optical procedures is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient intake, including gathering medical history
  • Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and vision acuity
  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by performing preliminary tests and assessments
  • Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure a sterile environment
  • Support optometrist during exams and diagnostic procedures
  • Manage medical records accurately using EMR systems
  • Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and retail sales opportunities
  • Handle front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing clinic flow
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality

Skills

  • Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to patient interactions
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical confidentiality standards
  • Experience with intake procedures, vital signs measurement, and clinical documentation
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques in a healthcare setting
  • Optical experience or background in ophthalmology preferred
  • Medical office experience including EMR systems
  • Understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and clinic procedures in ophthalmology or pediatrics settings
  • Ability to operate efficiently at the front desk while managing multiple tasks simultaneously

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
