What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farmworkers & Laborers, Crop, Nursery, Greenhouse position at Family Vineyard?
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, and Greenhouse such as: Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery such as forklift (much of which is equipped with GPS) to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Feel plants' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease; Trap and destroy pests such as moles, gophers, and mice; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Weigh containers and record weights and identifying information; Assis with hand digging post holes for trellis, end posts, anchors; String, attach and tighten cordon wires; Train cordon from ground level to cordon wires; Remove dead wood, prune, hand pick grapes; Lift boxes of grapes to transport from field to barn; Unload grapes and operate crush/destemer, siphon juice to tanks; Clean, sanitize tanks and equipment after each use; Keep drip lines clean and flowing; Run soil tests to evaluate soil chemistry; Drive farm vehicle; Minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
