Sizer Operator

Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Sizer Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring the fruit sizing equipment to ensure accurate grading and distribution of fresh fruit based on weight, size, or color specifications. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality and consistency throughout the packing process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Set up and calibrate the sizer equipment at the start of each shift or product run.
• Monitor sizer operation during production to ensure proper performance and product flow.
• Adjust equipment settings to match fruit specifications (size, weight, grade, color, etc.).
• Perform basic troubleshooting and report mechanical or operational issues promptly.
• Communicate closely with QC, Line Leads, and Maintenance staff during production runs.
• Ensure sizer is clean and maintained according to company sanitation and safety standards.
• Document sizing performance, downtime, and any product deviations.
• Follow all company policies, including food safety, GMPs, and operational safety protocols.
• Assist in pre-season setup and post-season breakdown of equipment as needed.
  
  

Requirements

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience operating sizer or grading equipment in a produce facility preferred.
• Familiarity with fresh fruit characteristics and packing operations is a plus.
  
  

Skills

• Minimum of three seasons of experience.
  
  

Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.

• Attention to detail and ability to identify issues with sizing accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
