At Family Tree Animal Clinic, we are passionate about caring for our patients, educating our clients on gold standard medical/surgical procedures, and training team members, so they can be empowered to assist with strengthen the human-animal bond. The clinic's hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8 am to 1 pm Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 am to 1 pm every other Saturday.* No after-hours emergency calls* or duties required. No overnight boarding. Therefore, no attending to boarding patients during the holidays or weekends. Typically, every other Saturday off. Clinic is closed on Sundays - Work-life balance!! Hooray!!
The Animal Caretaker/Assistant plays a pivotal role in the overall pet companion experience. This position calls for an individual who is attentive, resourceful, resilient, organized, and courteous. The Assistant must maintain composure and a pleasant demeanor while at times, dealing with stressful situations. There’s ample opportunity for professional growth and development.
Family Tree Animal Clinic (FTAC), is a state-of-the-art canine and feline-exclusive general practice. We operate in a paperless environment, offering services to our clients such as in-house diagnostics, surgery, dental procedures, digital whole body x-ray, digital dental x-ray and ultrasound – to name a few. We strive to strengthen the human-animal bond by consistently providing unmatched care to all pet companions and their families in the community in which we serve, while upholding the gold standard of veterinary medicine.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Assist the veterinarian/Technician/Assistant in and out of the exam room by restraining the animal, preparing patients for procedures and hospital discharge, collecting and preparing lab samples, preparing medications/vaccines, filling prescriptions as directed, electronically documenting history and examination findings.
- Maintain upkeep of the hospital (i.e. vacuuming, mopping, laundry, stocking of material, cage preparation, etc.).
- Appointment scheduling and data entry
- Processing payments
- Collaborating with Team Members to facilitate the efficient and effective running of the hospital
Required Experience:
- Currently owns and takes care of a dog(s) and/or cat(s).
- Ability to restrain, lift and carry animals or materials weighing 50 lbs. or more
- Handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs.
- Efficient computer data entry skills.
- And let’s not forget…Must enjoy working with people and animals
Preferred Experience:
- One (1 ) years of recent experience in a small animal veterinary practice environment.
- Knowledgeable on how to properly restrain a dog or cat safely.
- Knowledgeable on pet vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.
- High School or GED equivalent
