JOB SUMMARY: The Intake Specialist will screen at-risk individuals and families. The screening tool used will be the PR-VI-SPIDAT. This position will be familiar with community referral resources. This position will work closely with the Family Case Coordinator to process applications and to ensure clients are connected to needed resources. This position is non-exempt; Full Time (40 hours/week).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED. Experience working with persons from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds who are homeless and economically disadvantaged.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of any specific statements of the tasks/duties does not exclude them from this classification if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment for this classification.

· Manage daily flow of clients needing to be screened for rental assistance.

· Maintain accurate, updated, confidential client files.

· Establish and maintain relationships with other community agencies.

· Participate in a team effort and support each other in meeting the needs of the community.

· Attend all required staff and department meetings and trainings.

· Attend meetings and trainings in the community as required.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

· Bilingual Spanish/English required

· Administrative skills including, but not limited to: computer literate in Microsoft Office, filing, phone and email, use of office machines, record keeping and data entry.

· Knowledge and Experience working with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) database.

· Knowledge and Experience working with persons from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds who are homeless and economically disadvantaged.

· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

· Compassion and empathy working with clients.

· Leadership qualities including self-discipline, initiative and a responsible attitude toward clients and other staff members.

· Excellent time management and organizational skills.

· Problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task.

· Ability to maintain good rapport and communication with staff members in other agencies.

Physical Ability:

Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (5-10 pounds) to medium (up to 25 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Operates assigned office equipment.
