JOB SUMMARY

Family Services of Westchester is seeking a Full-Time F-ACT Vocational Specialist for our Restorative Justice Program in Yonkers, NY. FACT (Forensic Assertive Community Treatment) supports adults with severe mental illness who are involved with the criminal justice system.

Performs Vocational Rehabilitation Services in accordance with the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification Guidelines. The Vocational Specialist will help participants develop job readiness skills, secure employment, and maintain their work placements. The VS role focuses on empowering participants with the tools and resources to re-enter the workforce and achieve long-term self -sufficiency. The Vocational Specialist will report to the Clinical Coordinator.

CARE COORDINATION AND COMMUNICATION

  • Evaluate participants’ skills, education, work history, and interests to identify suitable career options.
  • Assist with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies
  • Conduct groups on vocational skills such as time management, communication, and workplace etiquette.
  • Build relationships with local businesses to create job opportunities and support participants’ in finding placements within or near their community.
  • Develop personalized job training and employment plans tailored to each participants’ vocational goals.
  • Also maintain accurate records of client progress and update plans as needed.

SUPPORTING ROLE

  • Participates in training, orientation, competency assessment and education of new employees
  • Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately, creating a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
  • Serves as a resource person to other staff around one’s own expertise
  • Complete FACT required trainings and participate in ongoing training to maintain competency.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • CPR Certification
  • Certified by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (preferred)

SKILLS

  • English speaking
  • (Spanish) Preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally
  • Ability to work with the electronic health record and computer
