JOB SUMMARY
Family Services of Westchester is currently seeking a F-ACT Housing Specialist for ourRestorative Justice Program in Yonkers, NY. FACT (Forensic Assertive Community Treatment) supports adults with severe mental illness who are involved with the criminal justice system.
The Housing Specialist will assist participants in securing stable and supporting housing, ensuring that they have access to safe living environments, develop housing readiness skills, and support participants in seeking resources needed for livable space (i.e bedding, furniture, etc). The Housing Specialist will report to the Clinical Coordinator.
RESPONSIBILITES
HOUSING MANAGEMENT
- Application Support

- Landlord Coordination
- Compliance and Inspections

- Crisis Intervention
CARE COORDINATION AND COMMUNICATION
- Collaborate with the team; follow up with participants to ensure housing stability is being managed. Disseminate communication with team members and participants about progress.
- Help clients complete housing applications and read/understand lease agreements.
- Assist clients in locating and securing appropriate housing options, including shelters, subsidized or low-income units.
- Act as a liaison between clients and landlords to resolve issues and ensure compliance with housing standards.
- Monitor the participants’ needs, challenges, and gaps; participates in pre-visit planning and daily team huddles.
SUPPORTING ROLE
- Participates in training, orientation, competency assessment and education of new employees
- Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately, creating a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
- Serves as a resource person to other staff around one’s own expertise
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in social work, public administration, or a related field (preferred).
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- CPR Certification
- Certified as a Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS)
- National Affordable Housing Professional (NAHP) (preferred)
- Complete FACT required trainings and participate in ongoing training to maintain competency.
SKILLS
- English speaking - (Spanish) Preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally
- Ability to work with the electronic health record and computer
