What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Social Worker Intern position at Family Service Association?
We are currently accepting applications for an unpaid MSW Internship for spring 2026 at our Family Resource Center (FRC). The MSW Intern shall support the FRC Clinician and CRA team in conducting trauma-informed intakes, screening, assessment functions and Family Support Plans for Family Members experiencing CRA-related issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Have a willingness and ability to work with the SED, DMH and DCF populations.
- Arrange for the collection of relevant information regarding the family’s story, current situation, and family strengths and needs.
- Responsible for supporting the completion of the modified CANS as well as other identified supplemental behavioral needs assessments
- Oversee the development of the Family Support Plan
- Fulfill reporting requirements of the department as well as required FRC documentation
- Work with all Family Members who are involved with the FRC; however, Family Members experiencing CRA-related issues are prioritized for services.
- Make referrals to other resources, agencies, clinics and hospitals as needed.
- Facilitate FRC family and youth groups.
- Respond to reasonable expectations of Agency and/or supervisor.
- Understand and demonstrate commitment to agency mission, values, and philosophy in performing skills specific to role.
- Maintain all ethical and legal requirements of the Agency.
- Must meet with the Clinical Supervisor for supervision as needed.
- Maintains standards of confidentiality
- Focuses on understanding and meeting family needs.
- Maintains positive work relationships in a respectful and collaborative manner.
- Maintains good communication with others ensuring others have necessary information.
- Actively works toward organizational improvement and professional growth.
- Education and Experience:
- Must be a first or second year MSW Intern from an educational institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
