JOB SUMMARY:
Texas School Ready (TSR) manages the delivery of services to reach the desired impacts of the assigned program area(s) and is responsible for developing and maintaining collaborative relationships, supervising staff and contractual team members and volunteers, developing and revising policies and procedures, and collecting and inputting client and service activity data, while ensuring that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency. The Specialist is also responsible for: writing proposals for program, developing and forecasting budget, managing budget, attending monthly meetings, budget and reporting, supervision/coordination, subcommittee meetings, peer review, departmental, and external and internal reporting of delivery of services. Additionally, the Specialist will provide program coaches with support for implementation of the TSR project. The Specialist will be responsible to implement a variety of strategies including side-by-side coaching, co-teaching, instructional planning, and reflective feedback with program coaches. The Specialist will collaborate with the Children's Learning Center at University of Texas Health Science Center Houston (CLI) staff to ensure TSR fidelity. The Specialist travels as necessary to provide coaching, training, and to attend meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training/Experience:
 
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field. Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
 
  1. Previous direct services leadership experience and/or supervision.
 
  1. Leadership development skills of coaching/mentoring is desirable.
 
  1. Three years’ experience training or coaching adults.
 
  1. Three years’ experience teaching preschool children.
 
  1. Use of research-based pre-kindergarten literacy/language/numeracy/science materials and instructional strategies.
 
  1. Understanding of pre-school literacy screening and progress monitoring and how each informs classroom instruction.
 
  1. Understanding of Texas Pre-kindergarten Guidelines, Head Start Child Outcomes, and Child Care Licensing Standards.
 
  1. Experience working with varied groups to achieve integration of early childhood services.
 
  1. Working knowledge of technology (Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, videotaping, uploading, etc.).
 
  1. Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable.

TIMES WORK WILL BE PERFORMED:
The agency’s hours of operation are extended and non-traditional, and may vary based on office location and/or stakeholder requirements.  Employees are asked to work the schedule that is best suited to the achievement of deliverables and stakeholder requirements based on the agency’s posted business hours, or as required by stakeholder and contractual requirements.  Employees who work in an exempt position are paid on a salaried basis and are not entitled to overtime pay.  The amount of salary is intended to compensate the employee for all hours worked to perform the required job.
