The Teacher Assistant will assist the classroom Teacher and the program Director in the day to day functioning of the program and ensure the safety and well being of the children at all times. The Teacher Assistant will remain alert to the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervision and safety of the children
- Cleanliness and decorating of classrooms
- Attend regular staff meetings
- Foster a warm, relaxed and non threatening atmosphere in the classroom
- Maintaining equipment and property
- Interacting with children at lunch and snack time
- Sit with children and model good manners and nutrition habits
- Use positive approach to help children behave constructively through redirection, planning ahead, encouragement of appropriate behavior and pro-social skills
- Follow through with any assignments as instructed by the Teacher or Directors.
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age, or have a high school diploma or equivalent and must work at all times under the supervision of a Teacher. Previous childcare experience preferred.
