Summary of Duties:
PPC Violence Free Network, a program of Family Service & Children’s Aid Society, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Full Time Shelter Advocate. Applicants should have working knowledge of victimization issues, community resources, crisis intervention techniques, and conflict resolution skills. This position will provide services to victims of domestic and sexual violence and other serious crimes. The Counselor Advocate’s role (for each area of concentration) is to ensure that program participant needs are assessed and that appropriate services are then provided to the consumer.
Job duties include accepting and fielding phone calls, scheduling appointments, typing routine correspondence, preparing outgoing mail and various reports, providing crisis intervention and supportive counseling, providing direct services to victims, and multiple special projects as assigned.
Work schedule for this position varies and will include some weekend and evening rotations to cover emergency hotline services. This position is located at the agency’s PPC Shelter. This position reports directly to the FSCAS’s PPC Program Director.
Required Skills, Qualifications and Abilities:
· High School Diploma (or equivalent) in general or business coursework.
· Previous shelter or victims services experience preferred.
· Excellent telephone and organizational skills.
· Proficient computer knowledge of MS Office: Word and Excel.
· Proficient written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
· Acts 34-73-151 clearances, valid PA Driver’s License, and reliable transportation.
· Ability to complete 80 hours specialized victim service training.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.50 per week
