POSITION SUMMARY
The Application Support Engineer (ASE) is responsible for overseeing software applications within the organization and ensuring smooth functions by leading troubleshooting, maintaining systems, and optimizing their performance. The ASE will manage and resolve issues reported by users and the Application Support Specialists, install updates, and collaborate with the IT team to improve systems, user experience, and business intelligence tools.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Identifies, analyzes, and resolves technical issues within software applications.
•Evaluates application performance, identifies bottlenecks, diagnoses software errors, and recommends changes to improve efficiency.
•Oversees software updates, patches vulnerabilities, and ensures compatibility with other systems.
•Develops code and ensures that software functions as intended.
•Manages and addresses all application and technical issues escalated by the Application Support Specialists effectively.
•Collaborates with development, compliance, and infrastructure teams to resolve issues and improve systems.
•Collaborates with management throughout the agency to understand and optimize workflows and information requirements that enhance operations and meet business needs.
•Identifies areas where support processes and systems can be improved, redesigns work processes, and recommends new strategies for implementation to achieve efficiency.
•Monitors system alerts, identifies potential problems, and leads proactive maintenance.
•Creates and maintains documentation for application updates, support procedures, and troubleshooting procedures.
•Responds promptly and effectively to critical incidents related to the application systems.
• Oversees and coordinates the maintenance and upgrading of application updates and
releases to ensure they function correctly and meet user needs.
• Provides technical support and answers user inquiries to ensure a positive experience and
deliver high-quality service to internal stakeholders.
• Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed/processed
appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Code of Conduct as well as applicable laws and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
required; master’s degree in a related field preferred
• Experience:
o Minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience working with software
applications, scripting, and IT support required; eight (8) or more years of
experience preferred
• Specialized Training, Licenses, Certifications:
o SQL, XML, and/or Coding training certifications preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
o Proficiency with Windows operating system
o Experience with querying databases (SQL) and understanding relational database
management systems.
o Experience in all phases of application management, including programming,
scripting, and database administration.
o Experience with common software applications and cloud platforms.
o Ability to use application performance monitoring and diagnostic tools to resolve
technical issues efficiently and effectively.
o Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to provide excellent customer service and support.
o Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
o Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
o Time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
• Other Requirements:
o Valid driver’s license required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is performed in-person. Some travel between FREE locations is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).
• Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.
• Employee is required to reach with hands and arms.
• Employee might be required to move and/or lift light items.
