Weekend Support Staff Needed for Family Promise, Emergency Shelter in Delaware County.

Overview:
Family Promises is an emergency shelter in Delaware County using the Housing First model to move chronically homeless and persons in an episodic housing crisis into permanent housing and provides some longer-term support through Beyond Promise eviction prevention to stabilize persons in housing and not return to homelessness.
Duties:
- Facilitating a safe, healthy environment and corresponding with emergency responders, when needed.
- Providing immediate communication with Executive Director and writing incident reports
- Liaising with all staff, as needed and appropriate regarding resident absences and behaviors that impact the safety and well-being of the environment.
- Respond to the Site Director or House Manager plus Case Managers, queries about residents, as needed.
- If police, fire or any emergency services are called, contact Executive Director immediately
- Walking full scope of property location: Promise House and Porch, a couple times each shift.
- Report any damages or concerns to Executive Director
- Greeting and engaging residents volunteers.
- Supporting resident volunteerism “blessings”
- Receiving and documenting donations.
- Communication with the Executive Director on Social Media Content and taking appropriate pictures with permission. Take pictures of items (and people-with permission, only) for community education purposes in our marketing.
- Sharing communication with staff as appropriate – emailing shift overview and texting any urgent incidents
- Share messages with staff not present or on shift, email and text, on-call staff according to urgency
- Inventory for supplies (paper, ink, folders, etc.) and donation, in consultation with staff on-call and others. This should include maintenance concerns around the house, groceries, toiletries, and documenting items needed for rooms (e.g., laundry baskets, waste baskets, storage containers, caddy’s, lamps, alarm clocks, etc.);
- Housing searches, community linkage in consultation with staff on call
- Supporting to house guests and Beyond Promise Alums who call or stop by (Document contact on clipboard as “Beyond Promise” with services provided)
- Progressive Discipline and documentation in consultation with staff on-call
- Write incident reports as appropriate and send to on-call and offsite staff as
appropriate; Maintaining sign-in sheets for dinner and evening curfews
- Overseeing dinner delivery and dinner activities on weekend
- Sub or swap hours with peers
- Preparing and assisting w/ family exits to include prepping resident rooms in a sanitized, organized, and clean way—hotel style. This responsibility also includes making sure all necessary toiletry items are available to help residents maintain hygiene and feel at home
- Attend trainings (e.g., clarity, access point, homeless prevention, rapid rehousing,) necessary to perform essential functions of the job – as appropriate
- If needed, assist with Nightly room checks to ensure all members of each household are present, no weapons, no drugs/alcohol, visitors, no food, or drinks and making sure are not overwhelmed with additional items and rooms are clean
- Boundaries among staff, residents, volunteers, and interns (favors, confidentiality, phone calls beyond routine case management, linkage, etc.)
- Act as companion to residents walking alongside them while connecting to additional resources to assist one in their success
- Respond to emails, texts, and phone messages in a timely manner
- Attention to detail
- Communicate all necessary information to staff in a timely manner
- Provide security codes to resident rooms
- Responsibilities, as needed and appropriate, such as:
- Skills-based service (for example)
- Educational and fun activities for adults and children
- Engagement in housing activities “with” residents
- Peer approach to supportive listening
- Provide referrals to ED for pastoral care and spiritual support if any are requested
- Organizing, sorting, creating inventory of items (in partnership with all staff)
- Laundry and office organizing, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
