Service Manager Qualifications

Service Manager Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Foster effective communication and strong working relationships across all departments.
- Oversee and organize daily operations of service advisors.
- Maintain and organize all crated inventory.
- Ensure work hours are properly recorded, timecards are completed, and monthly tracking sheets are updated.
- Review and approve estimates, ensuring customers are informed before work is performed.
- Keep technicians on task and manage scheduling to avoid time conflicts.
- Supervise set-up personnel to maintain productivity.
- Submit and reconcile all warranty repair orders, updating tracking sheets monthly.
- Monitor warranty claim shortages and overages.
- Address customer complaints; escalate to the GM if necessary.
- Maintain shop equipment (oil changes, service schedules, cleanliness, etc.), including:
- Pressure washer
- Delivery trucks & trailers
- Forklift
- Shop tools
- Provide employees with proper tools, equipment, and resources.
- Ensure the shop remains clean, safe, and professional in appearance.
- Report accidents immediately to the GM and complete required injury forms.
- Ensure technicians attend all required OEM schools and certification updates.
- Manage service bulletins, recalls, and communicate updates to staff.
- Keep the service team motivated and organized through training, one-on-one coaching, and information sharing.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to move easily within a shop environment.
- Perform light to moderately heavy lifting.
- Comfortable operating around shop tools, lifts, and equipment.
- Standing and walking for most of the workday.
- Full use of hands for typing and tool handling.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage employee schedules and monitor overtime, ensuring approval from GM when necessary.

- Manage workflow to maximize efficiency and service quality.
