Service Advisor Position Summary
The Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact between customers and the service department. This role is responsible for accurately assessing customer needs, creating repair orders, recommending maintenance and repair services, and ensuring a smooth service experience from write-up to delivery. The Service Advisor plays a key role in customer satisfaction, communication, and overall service department efficiency.
Service Advisor Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival
- Listen to customer concerns and accurately document service needs
- Create detailed repair orders and communicate clearly with service technicians
- Review technician findings and provide repair and maintenance recommendations to customers
- Explain powersports systems, parts, and maintenance requirements in a way customers understand
- Schedule service appointments and manage workflow for timely vehicle delivery
- Maintain communication with customers regarding repair status, timelines, and approvals
- Perform visual inspections of new and serviced units for damage or needed repairs
- Track parts orders daily and coordinate with the parts department to ensure timely repairs
- Adhere to all service department procedures, policies, and manufacturer requirements
- Promote and sell additional services, maintenance, and accessories when appropriate
- Maintain accurate documentation in Lightspeed and other dealership systems
- Support overall shop organization and customer flow
Service Advisor Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous customer service or service writing experience preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Ability to read service manuals and understand mechanical recommendations
- Basic knowledge of motorcycles, boats, ATVs, side-by-sides, and other powersports equipment preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Professional appearance and positive attitude
Service Advisor Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent use of hands for typing and documentation
- Movement between the service drive, shop, and customer areas throughout the day.
