Overview
Family of Woodstock provides Park Stewards for the Radio Kingston Green Space located in Kingston on Broadway in Midtown. This is a public park space on private property that permits daytime access. It is a space for everyone that excludes no one. Stewards will ensure that park visitors follow basic guidance while inside the park. These include: no smoking, no drinking and no drug use. The position requires engagement with park visitors in a friendly, kind and compassionate manner and stewards are expected to conduct themselves with a high standard of professionalism while also promoting an atmosphere of inclusivity and community. The Park, including a public bathroom, is open from dawn until dusk and the stewards will be responsible for opening and closing the park and bathroom based on that seasonally-influenced schedule.
Family of Woodstock has three Park Steward positions open and the shifts are from 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm, five days per week. Must be able to work some weekends.
Duties
- Interact with park users in a courteous, respectful and non-judgmental manner
- Ensure park guidance is being followed by all visitors
- Monitor condition of bathroom, trash bins and supplies
- Report maintenance issues to Radio Kingston staff
- Some light lifting including raising and lowering park umbrellas and rolling out storage bins for use by park visitors
- Provide information regarding community resources if requested
- The nature of this work and industry often necessitates one –employee shifts. This means that you may be eating some meals on the job without being relieved. Your meal period might be interrupted; however, you will be paid for all meal breaks whether or not they are interrupted.
Experience
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Must complete Agency-led 44-hour training program that includes Listening Skills, Trauma-informed Care, and NARCAN Training
