Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when required
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning, laundry, and organization of living spaces
- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and organizational policies
Experience
- Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques, patient monitoring, and implementing care plans is essential
- Hands-on experience with vital signs measurement, medication administration, and emergency response procedures such as CPR and first aid
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and perform physical tasks required for long-term caregiving roles
- Experience working within HIPAA guidelines ensuring patient confidentiality at all times
- Strong social work skills to support clients’ emotional well-being and coordinate with families or other healthcare providers
