What are the responsibilities and job description for the Eating Disorder Dietitian position at Family Nutrition Solutions?
Why You'll Love Working at Family Nutrition Solutions
We're a growing, women-led functional nutrition practice in Wilmington, NC, serving the whole family: gut health, hormones, pediatrics, body image, GLP-1 use, and bariatric surgery. We're insurance-based, so patients can access the care they need.
More and more of our patients are using GLP-1 medications or recovering from bariatric surgery. Many arrive with a long history of dieting, food fear, or disordered eating, and they're now losing weight on purpose under medical care. They need a dietitian who can help them nourish themselves well, protect their relationship with food, and notice when weight loss starts to feed disordered thoughts or behaviors. That's where you come in.
We're looking for an experienced eating disorder dietitian who can hold that nuance with patients and help grow ED expertise across our team.
What Makes This Role Stand Out
- Specialized, Meaningful Work: Help GLP-1 and post-bariatric patients get adequate nutrition, protein, and enjoyment while their appetite and bodies change, without letting weight loss come at the cost of their relationship with food.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor dietitians on our team who are pursuing CEDRD certification, and help shape how our practice screens for and supports disordered eating.
- A Team That Refers to You: Our providers already screen for ED risk. You'll be the in-house expert they turn to on complex cases.
- A Clear Path to Earn More: Our performance-based salary tiers come with transparent raise criteria, so you always know what it takes to grow your pay.
- Career Growth: Paid continuing education and the opportunity to supervise employees and interns; additional leadership opportunities available as the practice continues to grow
- Flexibility & Balance: Semi-flexible hours and a hybrid schedule (3 days in our Wilmington office, the rest remote if desired).
Role Details
- Full time, W-2 employee
- Working hours a mix of 7am-3:30pm, 8:30am-5pm, and 10am-6:30pm
- Caseload of 20-24 visits per week depending on supervision time and complexity of caseload
- 90-minute initial visits and 60-minute follow-ups
What You'll Do
- Build genuine relationships and trust with patients from the first visit using motivational interviewing and empathetic communication.
- Evaluate nutrition needs through diet, exercise, sleep, lifestyle, and functional lab assessments.
- Translate complex lab results into clear, plain-language explanations patients can act on.
- Set and prioritize realistic, stage-based goals so patients feel focused, not overwhelmed.
- Collaborate with our team to strengthen patient outcomes and care processes.
- Develop patient resources (handouts, recipes, educational content) that make recommendations easy to follow.
- Keep patient records current and complete in our EMR, including insurance documentation requirements.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Current RD or CNS with NC LDN/LN
- 2 years of outpatient nutrition counseling, including eating disorder care
- Desire to provide supervision for other dietitians gaining experience with eating disorders
- Comfort with EMR systems and digital patient resources
You'll Thrive Here If You're:
- People-oriented: You're energized by connecting with patients.
- A natural collaborator: You contribute ideas, welcome feedback, and make the team around you better.
- A clear communicator: You explain complex information in a way patients actually understand.
- Organized and reliable: You follow through on documentation, care plans, and patient communication.
- Analytically curious: You love looking at the whole person and digging in to find the why behind a patient's struggles.
