Job Summary
We are seeking a part time, approximately 20 hours per week, as a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the complete billing cycle, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding accounts. Your expertise will help optimize revenue flow while maintaining compliance with industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through precise financial management and excellent customer service.
We have transitioned from Amazing charts to NextGen and are far behind in AR and chronic care management payments. Also working denials. This job is part time and limited, anticipate 6-8 weeks, and then prn.

Duties
- Review and verify medical documentation to ensure accuracy before billing submissions
- Assign appropriate codes using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) systems to classify diagnoses and procedures correctly
- Prepare and submit claims electronically through Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments, adjustments, and collections in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Assist in medical record management by ensuring proper documentation aligns with billing codes and procedures
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation practices
- Proficiency in medical coding including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG systems
- Experience with medical billing processes and medical collections techniques
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient claim processing and record keeping
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate coding and billing accuracy
- Effective communication skills for interacting with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff
- Ability to interpret complex medical records and translate them into precise billing information
