What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Family Medical and Counseling Service?
Introduction:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Office Manager, the Medical Assistant is a healthcare professional who provides administrative and clinical support to physicians. The Medical Assistant is directly responsible for, but not limited to, performing various task such as taking vital signs, prepping patients for exams, performing in-house procedures such as swabbing, fingerstick, urine collection, drawing blood, scheduling appointments and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Major Duties/Essential Functions:
- Triaging patients by collecting medical/social history, taking vials, preparing patients for exams and assist with minor procedures
- Perform in-house test such as EKG, HgA1C, urine pregnancy test and nebulizer treatments
- Preparing and Administering injections
- Draw blood and process labs
- Excellent communications and good customer service
- Schedule and confirm patients’ appointments
- Maintain a safe and clean environment
- Monitor vaccine and supply inventory
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPPA regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school diploma or equivalency test. Completed an Accredited Medical Assistant training program and obtained certification.
- A minimum of one year of MA experience in a medical office or hospital
- EMR experience, preferably eClinical Works (ECW)
- Able to work in a high pace environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Assist provider with processing various medical forms
- Excellent communicational skills
Work Hours:
- Regular hours between 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday, and
- Occasional Saturdays (1:4) from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM every month, and
- Occasional after-hours Wednesdays (1:4) until 8:30 PM per month
