Hiring Pay Range: $61,360/yr - $63,000/yr (candidates will be hired within this range)

Age Requirement for this Role: 25 years of age or older (for agency vehicle insurance eligibility)

Job summary:

The Assistant Food Market Manager, with the oversight of the Food and Thrift Manager, as well as the support from the Food Market Supervisor, is responsible for overseeing FIRC’s Food Markets and supporting systems-level improvements that strengthen food access, equity, and operations. This role ensures compliance with all Public Health and Food Bank of the Rockies requirements and provides day-to-day leadership for Food Market staff, volunteers, and logistics. The role is primarily in-person, Monday–Thursday, with some nights, weekends, and holidays required based on Food Market operations.

The person we are looking for will:

  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide steady, composed leadership in rapidly changing situations

Primary duties:

· Oversee all Food Market operations in partnership with the Food Market Supervisor, including, but not limited to health and safety compliance, ordering and invoicing, distribution models, staff scheduling, volunteer coordination, and continuous operational improvement.

· Support and actively participate in daily Food Market operations, including managing the client order cycle, maintaining inventory, receiving deliveries, transporting inventory between food markets using the FIRC van, loading and unloading inventory, and checking in clients.

· Hire, cross-train, supervise, schedule and manage the employee life cycle of Food Market staff

· Support the orientation and onboarding of food program volunteers, ensuring they understand program values, safety expectations, and their role in advancing dignified food access; collaborate with food partners to ensure smooth operations

· Work with Food and Thrift Manager to continually assess logistics, workflows, and strategies to meet agency and community needs

· Ensure effective and consistent use of Salesforce and PantrySoft to support Food Market logistics and operations

· Understanding of monthly and annual budgeting, funding sources, food purchasing and spend-down management

· Ensure timely and accurate data reporting to partner organizations

· Serve as the primary point of contact for Food Market operations and staffing emergencies

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Uphold and promote FIRC’s mission, vision, and values

· Create, maintain and implement Standard Operating Procedures

· Work with staff to ensure appropriate maintenance, cleanliness and safety of the facilities, equipment, and vehicles

· Oversee food donations and deliveries from community partners

· Attend and conduct staff and team meetings, quarterly all-staff trainings, and professional development

· All other duties as assigned, job requirements may change

General requirements of the position include:

· High school diploma or GED required

· Management experience in food and beverage or 3 plus years in a supervisory position in a related field

· Effectively demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, required

· Advanced technology skills including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite, web-based ordering and inventory, Bloomerang, Dialpad, PantrySoft, Salesforce, Formstack, Scribe, ChatGPT, Adobe, Canva, and other web-based databases is required

· Knowledge of food distribution systems, health & safety regulations, efficient logistics and operations, optimal pre-planning and response skills

· Excellent customer service skills including active listening and the ability to speak to others with confidence and compassion

· Adaptability skills including troubleshooting, problem-solving, flexibility, and a stress-reducing mindset

· Must be 25 years of age or older, per vehicle insurance standards

· CO’s valid driver's license (not permit), with a clean and acceptable record per our insurance standards. Candidates may be subject to an MVR check before an employment offer

· Candidates may be subject to a background check post-offer of employment
