Admissions Clerk

JOB SUMMARY:

Processes patient information through the medical information software system, answers incoming telephone calls and responds to requests for information. Handles incoming and outgoing patients, and all payments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. Checks patients in upon arrival and enters or updates patient information into the medical information computer software.
   2. Checks patients out and collects payments and confirms insurance.
   3. Greets patients and other visitors, determines nature of business and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
   4. Treats patients with care and compassion.
   5. Schedules patient visits in accordance with any scheduling rules.
   6. Calls, as necessary, to remind patients of upcoming appointments or to reschedule appointments.
   7. Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel or department.
   8. Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
   9. Sends faxes and retrieves and routes incoming faxes.
   10. Access patient charts to confirm all admissions documentation/duties has been entered and charges and payments have been applied accordingly. Review chart to answer patient inquiries.
   11. Takes payments for services and issues receipts.
   12. Maintains careful account of any money received and balances cash deposits as necessary.
   13. Scan or oversee that all patient demographics, admissions forms and patient medical information are scanned into the Electronic Medical Record.
   14. Performs other duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying and emailing.
   15. Follows the mission and vision statement of FHCSO.
   16. All admissions staff is required to participate in team meetings relevant to admissions.
   17. Participates in designated activities and projects for PCMH as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
   18. Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties.
   19. All other duties as assigned.
