Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant / Certified Medical Assistant, where your skills will directly impact patient care and clinic efficiency by assisting your provider in the treatment and management of patients.
DUTIES:
1. Prepare patients for exam or treatment by proper set up of the exam/treatment room and rooming the patient utilizing FHA rooming protocol, including accurate measurement of vital signs and complete documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
2. Prioritize and communicate patient concerns and make appropriate decisions regarding communicating and coordinating for follow up.
3. Assist the provider as needed with diagnostic and/or surgical procedures and exams specific to the department clinical service. This may include but is not limited to the following: assisting and set up with in-office procedures, gynecological exams, performing EKGs, PFT/spirometry, minor wound care and dressing, suture or staple removal, nebulizer treatments and administering vaccinations.
4. Provide triage using the Clear Triage program and schedule patients accordingly
5. Monitor communications to and from the fax machine and electronic system as well as scan documents into the EHR as needed.
6. Assist in creating processing, clarifying and the correspondence of all orders and prescriptions for patient care including but not limited to; DME, sleep study, diagnostic, laboratory and referrals.
7. Clean exam and procedure rooms throughout the day as required by OSHA and as needed.
8. Manage a desk in both an individual and group setting by scheduling patients, computer data entry, task management including but not limited to the following: patient call back messages, prescription requests, results, referral messages, staff messages, processing prior authorizations and other items outlined by the clinic. Also, the management of incoming and outgoing phone calls, proper documentation within the EHR, following Rural Health compliance, PCPCH and HIPAA guidelines, and monitoring provider schedules.
9. Clean and prepare instruments for autoclaving following OSHA and TPC guidelines/policies for the prevention of the spread of blood borne pathogens, properly using safety and personal protective equipment.
10. Clean and organize shared work areas including exam rooms, nursing/MA station, utility rooms and supply areas, maintaining accurate documentation in log books/checklists as required.
11. Participate as an active care team member in a patient-centered medical home (PCPCH/Rural Health).
12. Manage an individual desk setting by scheduling patients, computer data entry, task management including but not limited to the following: patient call back messages, prescription requests, results, referral messages, staff messages, processing prior authorizations, and other items outlined by the clinic. Also, the management of incoming and outgoing phone calls, proper documentation within the EMR, following Rural Health compliance, PCPCH and HIPAA guidelines, and monitoring provider schedules.
13. Work under the general supervision of a licensed healthcare provider (MD, NP, PA).
14. Assist and train others as needed as well.
15. Maintain regular work attendance and punctuality.
16. Comply with HIPAA and OSHA guidelines at all times to ensure patient and staff safety.
17. Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervisor, coworkers, and patients.
18. Abide by company policies and procedures.
19. Other duties as assigned by MA Lead/Supervisor.
EDUCATION/LICENSES REQUIRED:
1. Current Medical Assistant Certification
2. High School Diploma or equivalent
3. Current BLS Certification

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
