The Opportunity
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Home Care Professionals to join our team as Independent Contractors for our Phase 1 services. You will be a foundational member of our agency, providing essential non-medical support to a diverse client base, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, and new families. This is an opportunity to do meaningful work with a supportive agency that values your skills and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will be dynamic and tailored to the specific needs of each client. Responsibilities will span across our core service lines:
Senior & Companion Care: Provide companionship and social engagement, assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), prepare meals, perform light housekeeping, and run errands to help seniors live safely and comfortably in their own homes. Daily tasks could include medication reminders, transportation, and engaging clients in activities to enhance their quality of life.
Specialized Disability & Skill Building Support: Work one-on-one with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Implement skill-building activities to foster independence in areas like household management, social skills, and community navigation. Provide structured respite care for families.
New Family Helper Support: Offer practical, hands-on support to new parents. Responsibilities include light housekeeping, baby-related laundry, meal preparation, and infant care to allow parents to rest, recover, and bond with their newborn.
Pet Care Assistance: Provide essential care for clients' beloved pets, including dog walking, feeding, and transportation to veterinary or grooming appointments.
Mandatory Requirements & Certifications
To ensure the highest level of safety, trust, and compliance, all applicants must meet the following requirements prior to starting with any client:
BCI & FBI Background Check: All candidates must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive state (BCI) and federal (FBI) fingerprint-based criminal background check. This is a non-negotiable condition of engagement.
First Aid & CPR/AED Certification: Must hold a current certification from an accredited provider (e.g., American Red Cross, American Heart Association) that includes a hands-on, in-person skills assessment.
HIPAA Certification: Must provide proof of current certification demonstrating understanding of federal laws protecting client health information.
Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Certification: Must provide proof of current, OSHA-compliant certification for safety and exposure prevention.
DODD Initial Provider Training: Must have completed (or be willing to immediately complete) the state-mandated initial training modules required by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
Valid Driver's License & Reliable Transportation: Must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and reliable, insured transportation for client-related errands and transport.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Experience: A minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience in a direct care role, such as a Home Health Aide (HHA), State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA), Direct Support Professional (DSP), or professional nanny/newborn care provider.
Preferred Experience: Demonstrable experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (especially autism spectrum disorder) and/or seniors with dementia is highly preferred.
Pet Care Requirement: To be eligible for clients with pets, candidates must demonstrate genuine comfort and experience with animals. A Pet First Aid & CPR certification is highly preferred for this specialized service.
Professional Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong sense of empathy and patience, and the ability to work independently with reliability and integrity.
