The Quality Control Analyst is responsible for reviewing Medical Disability Examination (MDE) reports and Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) prepared by medical providers for veterans evaluated on behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The analyst works closely with providers to ensure that all MDE reports and DBQs meet the VA’s standards for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review Medical Disability Examination (MDE) requests to ensure consistency with the corresponding Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ).
- Evaluate MDE reports and DBQs for completeness, accuracy, and correct grammar and formatting.
- Communicate with medical providers to facilitate any necessary corrections before submitting reports to the VA.
- Confirm that special requests and required secondary reviews are completed in accordance with VA guidelines.
- Verify that all diagnostics ordered by the medical provider have been completed, reviewed, and included with the final report.
- Perform daily queue maintenance to ensure all assigned cases have updated notes and all required actions are addressed.
- Coordinate with the Medical Advisory Board on cases requiring additional review, those that may fall outside a provider’s scope of practice, or cases presenting concerns related to provider performance.
- Consistently meet weekly and monthly quality and productivity targets established by management and the VA.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Two (2) years of quality-related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
- Experience in healthcare or quality assurance preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Proven ability to multitask effectively
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.89 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
